Shunyata Records' Journey So Far!
According to label founder, dj AvigyAvega, the development of the sound and aesthetic of the label was, “not planning so much as intuition but grew organically.”. Its been a dream since 2006 & and has been evolving ever since. The idea of starting a label and the association with this genre has been far too long and it was just a natural move which came out off an urge to carve out a space in the experimental psytrance world and the dream really came into reality on 7th of November 2015 with the launch of Shunyata Records from its hub in Ireland.
The early releases reflect a lot of forest psytrance music though, the focus has been shifted in a positive way to revive the old dark psychedelic trance music. “In 2017, we gradually felt this interzone opening up between the world of experimental synth music and some distant notion of dance music, unconnected to the framework of clubs and DJs. On paper, that looks like a disparate constellation of sound; but as the label evolved, every release—whether it’s the funky forest psy or the faster darkpsy, it has made sense to our fan base and always well received among our community.
And so, 7 years on, the loose aesthetic of “psychedelia, fog, glamour, mystery, melancholy, hypnotism, humanism,” is still, in its weird way, crystal clear and valid. We let the dancefloor decide whatever endorphin psytrance they need to dance till dawn. The deepest and truest music can be appreciated in infinite contexts, alone or together, at sunrise or sunset, intoxicated or introspective.” & that definition of—and commitment to—psychedelic trance music perfectly encapsulates Shunyata Records.
Lastly we would like to thank all the Live Artists and producers, Djs, Graphics Artists, Videographers, Décor teams, Venues for believing in Shunyata Records. it wouldn't have been possible without your support. We have just started & there is a long journey ahead of us. When we looking back at the span of last 7 years of ups n downs, It has only given us strength to carry on with our objective.
